Fill leads Kilde, Jansrud in 1st WCup downhill training
KVITFJELL, Norway (AP) — Peter Fill posted the fastest time in the first training session for a men's World Cup downhill on Thursday.
The Italian led Norwegian pair Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and Kjetil Jansrud by 0.55 and 0.63 seconds, respectively.
Manuel Osborne-Paradis of Canada, Steven Nyman of the Unites States and Valentin Giraud Moine of France were also less than a second off the pace.
Fill trails leader Aksel Lund Svindal by 26 points in the downhill standings.
The Norwegian is out for the season after knee surgery following a crash at the Jan. 23 downhill in Kitzbuehel, which Fill won. With two races remaining this season, 10 racers have still at least a mathematical chance to win the discipline title.
Another training is scheduled for Friday, followed by the race the next day.
